Why You Should be Eating Bananas

Bananas?! Is this guy serious? Yes I am very serious. You may know bananas as the piece of fruit crammed with surgary grabs, but let me tell you that it’s packed with nutrients to help you grow. The best part about bananas? The average price is between 0.50 and 0.70 cents a pound!

Packed with nutrients

You might also associate bananas with potassium but I want to tell you they are so much more than that. Bananas contain vitamin C, vitamin B-6, and manganese. These are vitamins that are essential in providing enzyme reactions in the body that help digestion and absorption. Vitamin B-6 is also important to building healthy neurotransmitter levels and supporting overall brain function. If you don’t read any further, this alone is probably the best reason why you should be eating bananas.

Great post workout snack

Instead of wearing about the sugar contents of a banana, you should know they contain healthy sugars, or naturally occurring sugars. This is very handy when your body is in recovery mode from a workout. Natural sugars are fast-digesting which means they can also quickly replenish glycogen levels which get spent during workouts as they are your source of energy during high-intensity exercise.

Bananas as good bacteria

Specially green bananas which are loaded with resistant starch which is a type of carbohydrate that resists from processing inside of you. Your body pushes these starches into your large intestine where they act as a prebiotic, or a fuel source for bacteria. In turn through this process they also promote a healthy blood sugar level.
